What inspired the creation of WhatTheAI? What problem are you solving?
The idea for WhatTheAI came from personal frustration. As AI users and builders ourselves, we were constantly overwhelmed by the volume of new AI tools hitting the market. Every day, it felt like dozens of tools were being launched, but figuring out which ones were legit, useful, or even functional was a headache. We found ourselves—and many professionals we spoke to—wasting hours scrolling through social media, AI blogs, or unreliable directories, trying to find a tool that actually worked. Most existing directories were either too technical or unfiltered, which just made the search harder. So we built WhatTheAI.tech to solve that. A centralized, trusted AI platform where people can quickly discover the best AI tools, stay updated, and actually learn how to use AI—without all the noise. How did you confirm WhatTheAI was meeting users’ needs and gaining momentum?
The validation came pretty quickly. Right after launch, we saw a surge in organic traffic. Without running any paid ads, we started getting messages from professionals thanking us for simplifying their AI discovery process—proof that we were solving a real problem. Our AI newsletter became a strong signal. It grew rapidly to over 110,000 subscribers, with a 25% open rate and 4% click-through rate—well above industry benchmarks. That told us people weren’t just signing up—they were genuinely engaged. It confirmed that WhatTheAI had become an important part of their workflow and decision-making.What is WhatTheAI, and how does it help users and businesses?
WhatTheAI is a comprehensive AI discovery platform that helps professionals, teams, and AI enthusiasts find, compare, and use the best AI tools. We currently list over 20,000 AI-powered tools across more than 270 categories, including AI marketing tools, productivity apps, AI writing assistants, AI for design, and AI for coding. Everything is carefully curated and updated to help users avoid dead links and outdated tools. But we’re more than just an AI tools directory. We send out a highly engaged newsletter three times a week, filled with curated AI updates, tool reviews, and AI trend insights. For businesses, we take it a step further by building custom AI agents—like chatbots or automated workflows—to solve real operational problems. It’s about turning discovery into AI-powered action. We also launched the AI Kids Academy to teach children how to use AI creatively, from building chatbots to generating music with AI. It’s our way of making AI approachable and educational for the next generation. How do you differentiate WhatTheAI from other AI directories?
WhatTheAI focuses on helping users actually use AI. When we say “WhatTheAI,” we mean being the AI that helps you discover AI—offering a more guided and actionable experience. We don’t just showcase tools—we help people implement them. Whether it’s a small business looking for a marketing assistant or a support team automating responses, we build out-of-the-box solutions tailored to specific needs. Our AI Kids Academy is also a unique differentiator. We’re not just focused on professionals—we’re preparing everyone, including children, to use AI responsibly and creatively. Instead of overwhelming users with endless lists, we guide them to what actually works for their use case.Does WhatTheAI have a social media presence to engage with the AI community?
Yes, we’re active on Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok. Our focus is on short, practical AI content—mostly tutorial-style videos showing how to use top AI tools in real-world scenarios. The goal is to make AI feel simple, useful, and exciting. People shouldn’t feel like they need a PhD to benefit from AI. We break things down and share real-life use cases that resonate with business owners, marketers, educators, and students alike.Do you offer sponsorship opportunities for AI brands?
Absolutely. Sponsorships have become a core part of our platform. We’ve worked with leading brands like Notion, which partnered with us via our newsletter, and Fish Audio, for whom we created dedicated video tutorials and spotlight features. We’re flexible—our sponsorship packages are tailored based on brand goals, whether it’s visibility, lead generation, product education, or community engagement. Because our audience is highly targeted—AI-savvy professionals, builders, and curious learners—our sponsorships perform extremely well. It’s a win-win: we feature great tools, and brands reach an engaged AI audience. How can brands reach out to sponsor WhatTheAI?
Most brands reach us through our website. We have an “Advertise” page where companies can fill out a short form to request our media kit and explore custom sponsorship options. Whether it’s a newsletter feature, branded tutorial, or a deep-dive review—we tailor each partnership to meet specific marketing goals. Since launching, we’ve seen a growing number of brands reach out organically, which shows that WhatTheAI is becoming a go-to AI marketing channel.Do you think AI will replace jobs across industries, or will it mainly serve as a supportive tool?
We see AI more as an assistant than a replacement. It’s here to enhance productivity, not eliminate jobs. Sure, it can automate repetitive tasks, but creativity, empathy, and strategic thinking still require a human touch. AI will change how people work, not whether they work. It frees up time so professionals can focus on high-value tasks—like problem-solving, relationship-building, or innovation. That’s the magic: giving people tools to do more of what they love—and less of what they don’t.What does a typical workday look like for you?
Every day is different, but there’s a rhythm:- Morning: I check user feedback, platform metrics, and emerging AI trends. It helps me stay close to what matters—user value.
- Midday: I meet with the product, content, and partnerships teams. I also make time for calls with sponsors and collaborators.
- Afternoon: I shift focus to strategy—thinking about new features, UX improvements, or upcoming AI tools to feature.
- Evening: I try to unplug, but often end up reading AI blogs or listening to tech podcasts. In a space moving this fast, continuous learning is a must.
